Blotter round-up

Accused of stabbing her mother in the face with a pair of scissors.

In just one short week at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal we’ve had several serious and some quirky criminal cases — yet my colleagues all say “it’s been a slow week.” On Christmas Day, a man reportedly stabbed another man twice, once in the chest and once in the stomach. Police said the motive stemmed from an argument over money. Guess we aren’t all feeling the warm and kind charm of the Christmas season. Deputies later reported that a 17-year-old mom saw her toddler daughter carrying a pair of scissors so she took the scissors and stabbed her own mom in the face with them. Deputies said she later told them that seeing her daughter walking with scissors made her angry, angry enough to stab her own mom. In another case, a resident noticed a woman breaking into an apartment unit nearby. She was reportedly wearing only a bra and one shoe. Just one. Deputies responded to investigate so she grabbed on by the neck. This of course ended with a charge for assaulting an officer, according to an incident report. Here’s to a better week ahead.

  1. Sadly, incidents such as these are happening throughout the year but it’s even worse when they take place during Christmas time…
