Here’s another piece I wrote for The Advocate of Hampstead and Manchester. The feature is on Cascade Lake and what they’ve done to boost activity to their facility during the summer months. In addition to the reporting, I also shot feature photos of the summer camp, which ran on the cover of the publication. Here is an excerpt from the story. For the full story, click here.

Over the years, the owners at Cascade Lake in Snydersburg have added significant improvements to the area since first acquiring the land in 1992.

A 150-foot waterslide was installed in 1993, along with several platforms for jumping and diving. A pool complex was added in 1999. A splash zone was put in shortly after, with water sprinklers and fountains for children to enjoy.

But it wasn’t until this year when Cascade Lake partnered with a child care program to host a summer-long water camp throughout the lake’s facilities.

ABC Care Inc., a nonprofit child care corporation based in Finksburg, has chosen Cascade Lake as a site for one of their nine summer camp programs throughout Carroll and Baltimore counties. In addition to the summer camps, ABC Care offers 13 before and after school care programs, nine of which are accredited, according to ABC Care District Manager Christine Gesuele.
